This was one of our first trips with a small group. There was little planning, just letting things happen. This location near Auburn, California, always has at least a few nudists visiting. It's a rare spot on the river where there is actually a beach. You can usually safely be nude on any of the trails in the valley. On-camera: Katgirl, Umbra, Je Suis, Paul, Tiffany, Tim, Lea

nomad-notes
Before this day I had been thinking in terms of only organizing big events on the beach, with 50 or more people at a time. There are lots of difficulties with that: weather on the beaches of northern California is not reliable, so a big group could be a big cancellation; it takes a lot of coordinating to get that many people to show up; then there's the problem of transportation, food, facilities, and being noticed by those that may not want us there.
So I had the brilliant (but obvious!) idea of doing a series of small trips each with just a handful of people. This is much more managable and spreads out the risk of bad weather and other problems. This trip to the river near Auburn was our first outing with a small group. I did not have much of a plan so most of what you see just happened on its own. Thinking about the results of the day later I was happy and amazed with what we accomplished but I also knew it was still not quite right. My goal was not really to create modeling photoshoots. The subjects were mainly the women and there were too many photographers, mainly male photographers. It would take many outings to try and correct this imbalance, to get more males in front of camera and to find some female photographers.
Notice the great diving shots by Paul. Other shooters had problems with over and under exposure which resulted in some of the graininess and color shifts in the photos. I shot video also.
