Bodyfest is an event started by us in California, and it ran successfully from 2013-2017 when it was discontinued in favor of staging it at Bare Oaks in Canada. But it was difficult to build momentum in 2018/19 and then COVID came along. This 2021 edition of the event unfolded very well despite the rain on Saturday afternoon that drove us indoors.

gallery-1 100 photos Bodyfest is a yearly event at Bare oaks. Saturday morning started with yoga then continued with a martial arts class and tie-dying.
gallery-2 97 photos We had a slack line and a gymnastic bar set up on the main lawn for people to try out all day long. As you can see some had prior experience.
gallery-3 96 photos The "Yoga-Couple" conducted an interesting outdoor yogic ritual that involved water, air, fire and earth - the elements of existence.
gallery-4 94 photos An outdoor figure-drawing class brought out some talent. Then the rain drove everyone indoors for a human connection workshop.
gallery-5 124 photos Later that evening we all came back for a dance party in the lower lounge. Glowing body paint and a big shadow box kept things super lively.
gallery-6 117 photos Rahul and Devika took us on a sensual adventure including fire, smoke, water, and sound vibrations. Hopefully our consciousness was raised a little.
gallery-7 128 photos Tubs with watered-down clay in 3 shades showed up and everyone got the impulse to cover their bodies with patterns of this earth.
gallery-8 135 photos Paint part of your body, then stamp it onto the canvas. Moving on to our photography workshop Sunday afternoon to finish Bodyfest.
nomad-notes
This "Bodyfest" is different from those in California. At Lupin Lodge the "main event" was a series of contests on the front lawn. Workshops with yoga, massage, etc were the trimming around the edges. The current "Bodyfest" is focused on classes/workshops and activities. There are no contests. It's something I'd consider adding again in the future. As I write this it is 4 weeks from Bodyfest 2022 and as usual I'm scrambling around trying to get on top of organizing all the details and getting the material aspect rounded up and ready for transport.
