WNBR is an event that happens in many cities across the globe with the intention to protest the extensive use of hydrocarbons, mainly by automobiles. The message is that more people should use bicycles to get around, and more bike paths should be made available in urban areas. Riding your bike nude is partly to attract attention to the protest and partly to express the human freedom that comes with being closer to nature.

gallery-1 104 photos I arrived early and there were already a few people I knew, including Gene, the most active promoter of this Toronto body-freedom event.

This June 2022 was the first time I actually attended WNBR, though several friends did participate every year. But I did not ride in the event since it is impossible to photograph and ride at the same time. I was nude in the staging area and hung out with about 20 friends who were getting ready to ride. There are always a bunch of "creepy" clothed and masked photographers buzzing around shooting and I did not want to be identified with them - you'll never see their pictures but you will see mine as it is valuable to have a photographic record of this great event. Once the ride started I jumped in my car and drove ahead to a spot where I could get out and shoot the bikes passing. I repeated this a few times, then lost track of the group after City Hall.
